About Neurodiverse Nurse
Neurodiverse Nurse was founded in 2024 to provide a timely, compassionate and accurate assessment of ADHD for adults. We understand the difficulties faced by those who are still waiting for an assessment and how frustrating barriers to healthcare can be.
What is ADHD?
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that often affects attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. It’s like having a brain that works differently, sometimes making it challenging to stay focused, organise thoughts, or control impulses.
How might diagnosis help?
A lack of diagnosis can bring a lack of awareness and support and we aim to change that. By improving access for trauma informed ADHD healthcare we aim to create a psychologically safe environment to talk in. Being a consistent point of care for your ADHD journey, so that you’re not having to speak to someone different each and every time. You won’t be asked to repeat yourself over and over again, or be asked to do the things you find most challenging in order to access care. Appointments are affirmative, genuine, hopeful and compassionate, and they take place at a pace that works for you.
How might treatment help?
Treating ADHD as an adult can significantly improve the quality of life. By addressing the symptoms and challenges associated with the condition, individuals can experience increased focus, improved organisation, and reduced impulsivity. These positive changes can lead to greater success in personal and professional relationships and enhanced overall well-being. With appropriate treatment, adults with ADHD can unlock their full potential and live more fulfilling lives.
How do assessments work?
You will have your first initial assessment via video call within two weeks of submitting an online enquiry. We will send out a very short ADHD screening questionnaire in preparation for this first call. Every session is tailored to each individual client, and conducted at a pace that works for you.
We limit the amount of online form-filling you have to do yourself, and prefer to talk in depth during our assessment appointments. We also offer phone calls to support any documentation as we know how helpful body doubling can be and we want to assist those who struggle with technology or find the process a bit overwhelming.
A full diagnostic ADHD appointment can be anything between 1-3 hours in duration, and can range from one appointment to several, depending on what works best for you. We offer a range of appointment times, including evenings and weekends, in order to be as accessible as possible. And don’t worry our pricing is really clear and transparent from the start.
What happens after the assessment?
After the assessment and if diagnosed, we will write a comprehensive diagnostic report and with your consent this can be sent to your GP, educational setting or work place to help get you the support you need. We also offer post diagnostic support which can include, medication, talking therapy, ADHD coaching and signposting. We can advise on support such as access to work, disability student grants or any voluntary and community services local to you which have been highlighted as helpful for you during your assessment.
We understand the importance of shared care, and work as collaboratively as we can with GPs and primary care providers to offer advice and assurance, in line with local policies and national guidelines. This can help them be as assured as possible with the transition of care when the time comes.
